I made an awesome chocolate cake today! Well, actually it was yesterday, but we ate some today . It is gluten free and so yummy I thought I had died and gone to heaven with the first bite!
The recipe made a lot of cake, so this is rather taller than I had intended. I think it would do better in 9″ round pans instead of 8″! I really like flowers, and this cake was crying out for white roses. Here is a close-up of them;
I torted the cakes to make 4 layers of cake and sandwiched frosting between, alternating vanilla and chocolate.
Ooohhhh, my, the taste! It is soft, moist, and I can’t tell the difference between it and a wheat cake! It’s not grainy at all, just soft and rich with chocolate. This is to die for, seriously!!! Here, I’ll share my bite with you;
Do you see the shavings on top? That’s Ghirardelli chocolate! It’s so smooth it melt’s in your mouth, sigh….And the frosting, now that’s good too. I made real butter-cream, not the more modern shortening butter-cream. It doesn’t pipe as well, but the taste is out of this world! See? Now your hungry, aren’t you?
