Playing with my Goats

I got to thinking this morning, while sitting on a poopy floor and being climbed on and being used as a leaping platform by my goat kids, that if anyone looked in and saw me in these unguarded moments they would think I was surly out of my mind πŸ™‚

My goats are my relaxation, a way to ground me and calm me for the day ahead. An hour playing with my animals helps keep me calm when life throws me doozies and I’m trying not to go insane cramming teaching, cleaning, gardening, etc. into rather short days. They are very therapeutic!

Today I realized that Ammi’s kid, Abigail, has decided I belong to her. No one is allowed to climb on me unless she is in my lap! She will push, shove and bite anyone who attempts to take her spot, and if I ever forget to say hi to her first she gets very pushy. She tried to follow me out of the yard this morning, much to my surprise. Normally she likes to stay with Momma in the mornings so she can get some milk, but today she seemed to want my company. Here is a picture of her;

I was trying to get her to pose for a beauty shot, but she thought the other goats were having too much fun without her so she wouldn’t cooperate, haha! You wouldn’t know it from the picture, but she is big already! At two months she is almost as big as last years does at 4 months, but of course she gets all of Mom’s milk, the little piggy πŸ™‚Β  I love watching her move, too. She has the grace of a ballerina, and can leap like one too!

  1. Goats? I won’t see them the same.

    These are my favorite kind of posts, sweetie. I can actually see you on the poopy floor and feel the serenity descending upon you. Feels good.

    • Mine too, Laura! You know, it was after reading your blog I remembered why I started blogging in the first place. I always had so many stories to tell on facebook that made people laugh, but I got sidetracked with too much serious πŸ™‚ I spent half the night reading yours and laughing, and remembered it was okay to share the mundane stories that make up a good life.
