Gophers :-(

Today I worked hard in the garden, clearing out weeds and old plants from the summer flop. We recently discovered a snake in the garden, eating offspring from what I finally identified as a gopher, or more specifically, a pocket gopher. I want to get the garden ready for my fall crops, and I really need to catch that gopher! I had brussel sprouts ready to come off and went out and every one of them is cleanly eaten off the stalk! The corn is getting knocked over and chewed, and any other produce is gone just as it ripens. My poor plants will never be safe with the gopher on the loose!

So anyway, I weeded the garden until my back ached and my fingers hurt, and the whole time that gopher chattered at me and complained, hiding among the weeds (the little chicken!). I cannot find where he has tunneled as yet, but he HAS to go! However, in researching what we had, I came across this video, and it’s cute as can be, so enjoy it while I decide how best to rid myself of this pest.
