Ammi, Our Nigreian Dwarf Goat, Kidding!

Our lovely Ammi had babies yesterday, November 1st! She is the proud mother of 2 boys and 1 girl, and boy are they pretty! Talk about color!!! My friend Abby attended the birth. It was her first, and she asked a lot of questions while helping me film. I thought this might be helpful as she was asking things that many first time goat owners may not know. The video of the birth is as graphic as, well… birth! It is amazing, and you can see where the doe had a harder time because both boys were born with one leg back.

And here are some pictures!

Buckling, last born

All the babies 🙂

Bbaies again!

Doeling nursing, she was the first born.

This is a wonderful video! Is she a FF? I’m just curious, because it took longer than I would have expected. If that’s how long it often takes, I’m so glad I watched this. I would have been getting worried. Hopefully this will help me not to panic when my girls kid the first time. 🙂 Thanks for posting!

    • Actually, this is her 4th. freshening. All of the kids had one front leg back, and I am guessing they were not in a good position. She tried to push an hour earlier and wasn’t getting anywhere, then did more stretching and got them out. If they are not in a diving position it is often much longer and harder. Good luck on your impending births!

  4. Wow, great video I wish I could have seen this before I had my first birthing experience! You have a gift for videoing and teaching 🙂
